I asked on social media if anyone would be interested in my summer skin care favorites - my own personal stash - the people spoke!
To tell you a little bit about my skin: In the cooler months my skin is typically super dry (flaky, tight and parched) but once summer rolls in with high heat and a lot of humidity, sweating, etc. - it's a different ballgame. I'll be honest I'm not a huge summer weather fan so I make the most of it with my skincare as my needs do change with the Chicago weather. I find my skin welcomes the switch and usually is happier and more cooperative day to day, as well as with any makeup.
Here's what I routinely use/love (yes I'm obsessed with Bioderma and you should be too!)
Bioderma Sebium H2O Micellar Water [LINK] - I usually use the the Sensibio version [LINK] during the cooler months to hydrate my skin, but with summer I want something that is more purifying, oil controlling and extra cleansing. I use this after I wash my face as a second step to remove any left over face makeup, as well as make sure my skin is super clean. I love the way it makes my skin feel squeaky clean & fresh but not dried out. It's a game changer on those those really muggy summer days where you just want to feel refreshed (aka not gross) but are pressed for time! To use it, I soak a cotton round and gently wipe my face. PS) This is always a staple in my professional kit.
Bioderma Sébium Exfoliating Gel Face Scrub [LINK] - This is a newer product I have been trying for the past couple of weeks and I think it's an excellent face scrub - it's super gentle and the granules are very very fine so it's not abrasive or rough on my face - a rare find for me. I will use this either to focus on my chin (to try to reduce post acne texture) and also before I do my sunless tanning too - usually I use this product twice a week.
Bioderma Sebium Foaming Gel Facial Cleanser [LINK]- It smells good (like a fresh spa) lathers nicely but not overly sudsy (PS It's soap free!), removes makeup well and also leaves my skin super clean but not dried out - a common reaction I've noticed with the typical combination/oily skin face washes! PS) I do switch back to the Bioderma Sensibio Foaming Facial Cleansing Gel [LINK] for the cooler months (or if you are always dry!)
Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Masque [LINK] - When talking about a game charger this is one of my best kept (spilled) secrets. I LOVE this mask and honestly have probably been using it for over 10 years. It's wonderful for acne (any kind especially the "bad" ones) as a spot treatment and also for mask. I typically will do either my full chin or also through my T-zone area to help with shine, oil production and deep pore cleaning. I would recommend patch testing this product to make sure your skin is ok with it - it does have a medical smell but I don't mind it at all. This is the product I have so many friends & family hooked on!
Well there you have it - I'm still testing out a few other items as far as moisturizers and treatment products so I'd be happy to share any updates in the future if you'd like. If YOU have any favorites that you love - please feel free to share!
