The Color with Carly Package Includes
Pre-Session Questionnaire - Upon booking, you will be sent a short questionnaire to fill out. This questionnaire will give me an idea of what you are hoping to learn in our time together, and your beauty goals and preferences.
Pre-Session “How To Prepare” Guide - This short guide will be sent to you the week prior to your appointment. It covers how to prepare your skin and your space before our in-person session.
Professional Color Analysis Session - We will start our in-person session by determining your harmonious color palette using professional drapes from the Italian Image Institute. This covers undertone which is essential for makeup color choices. You’ll also find out what colors will work best for you based on your skin’s chromatic features. The results of this color analysis will inspire your clothing and jewelry personal styling choices going forward, and show how using your personal color palette in makeup enhances your natural beauty.
Makeup Bag - After the color analysis session, we will go through your makeup bag to see what you are currently using, and identify where the gaps are. This also helps me understand how you approach your everyday beauty routine, and where the opportunities to learn are.
Makeup Lesson - After going through your makeup bag, we’ll figure out where we can elevate your beauty routine in both technique and color. We will refer back to the color analysis drapes to highlight why your undertone (warm or cool) works best for you. We will also make sure to cover the topics you mentioned in your pre-session questionnaire.
Shopping List - Based on our makeup bag and makeup lesson process, we can work together to create a list of products and shades for you to shop for. This will help you to implement, and create a plan to use, what you’ve learned.
Digital Guide - After our session, I will email you a digital guide for your color palette alongside makeup color suggestions. You’ll be able to bring this with you for future beauty and style shopping trips. You can also ask me any lingering questions or show me what new products you’ve added to your makeup bag. I’d love to see and hear from you!
What Sets My Services Apart?
In-Home Services - All of my services and appointments are on-location which means that I come to you! This way my services are more comfortable, private, convenient, and ultimately able to be more pampering. I come prepared and bring my own “studio set up” with me at all times. My Professional Kit is well-stocked, organized, and catered to my artistry specialty. I also use a variety of brands that I trust and am confident in their product quality, performance, integrity, and longevity. My Makeup Kit can be tailored to any client, meaning I have products for each skin type + skin tone. My Professional Color Analysis Drapes are handcrafted in Milan, Italy by the Italian Image Institute, where I took my online training. My Makeup Chair is comfortable to sit in and the right height for makeup applications. Lastly, I bring along my own Mirror and Makeup Lighting (The Makeup Light) which is a professional lighting system designed specifically for makeup artists. This lighting is important because it is dependable regardless of the weather or current lighting situations.
Seasoned Makeup Artist - I’m a seasoned makeup artist with over 20 years of experience working in the beauty industry. I’ve been a wedding makeup artist for over a decade. I bring with me, to each and every client session, a wealth of knowledge. Because of this experience, I have extensive technique and product knowledge to share. While I may be partial to certain products, I am not affiliated with or sell for any brands. All opinions and suggestions are my own based on experience. Each client session is custom-tailored to the individual to suit their budget and preferences.
Extensive Training - As a life-long learner, and with the intention of bringing more value to my clients, I recently completed professional color analysis training through the Italian Image Institute’s online training program. I’ve also read the corresponding book, Armocromia, by the founder Rossella Migliaccio. This new aspect has refined how I teach clients to find their best colors. With the professional draping in color analysis, you'll learn and see firsthand what your best colors are for makeup and styling. This means that not only will you receive my professional makeup guidance, but I can show you exactly why those colors work best on you.
Visual Artist Background - I'm also a professional visual artist and writer (www.carlypalmer.com) working in the mediums of painting, paper collage, and writing. I bring a background of color theory and artistic knowledge into my makeup work. As a writer, I possess the ability to use descriptive words to help you visually connect with your color palette.
Travel Details
All of my services are on-location in the Greater Chicago Area so I will travel to your location with my equipment for the appointment. My travel is included from my home for up to 20 miles for each appointment. This covers & includes my mileage, gas, tolls, travel time, and transport of my equipment. If your location is more than 20 miles, a flat rate travel fee of $25 will be added as a separate fee. Please be aware that any parking such as SpotHero/valet/meter costs are not included/separate and will be added to the total. I'd be happy to create a custom quote breakdown with your exact location per request and prior to booking. Otherwise, the travel fees are calculated, added to the total, and are due at the time of service.
